On March 22, 2011 during the weekly 2-hour Government Prayer Watch, the Jerusalem Prayer Tower received the U.S. Alabama State flag from Birmingham Prayer Furnace, a 24/7 prayer movement raised up by Paul and Lucy Hughes, founders and directors.
This particular Alabama State flag, received from Birmingham Prayer Furnace, represented Alabama at The Call Sacramento recently held by Lou Engle and holds import as a symbol of Alabama’s allegiance to and support of Jerusalem/Israel.
John Buhler of Mission Huntsville states: “In 1943 (*during* World War II) Alabama was the first [and possibly only] state to officially call for the establishment of a Jewish homeland in [what was then called] Palestine. The unanimous joint resolution from the Alabama legislature led the way in the U.S. -- and eventually the U.N. -- five years before Israel became a nation. Alabama again led the way in 2002 when the legislature did the same, urging President Bush to support Israel during the rising Palestinian conflict drawing international attention after the terrorism of 9/11.”
As we received this flag here at the Jerusalem Prayer Tower, we prayed in agreement with 7 decrees that the Alabama state leaders have been praying during this season that include a spiritual awakening in the state of Alabama as well as throughout the U.S. and the nations.
We bless the state of Alabama from Zion and pray for great increase and harvest in the Kingdom in Alabama. We prayed that the governmental leadership in Alabama will remain godly and lead the nation in the support of Israel. We also prayed that Birmingham Prayer Furnace would prosper as they continue to be “watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem” from their appointed place in Birmingham!
